1) Twin Star Orchards, New Paltz, NY
This one’s the longest drive, but definitely can still be done as a day trip from Bergen County and most of metro NYC - it took us under an hour from Northern Bergen County. I wish I knew when my kids were younger how amazing strawberry picking is for them! No lifting them up to reach an apple tree or a peach tree. No bees buzzing around freaking the kids out (IYKYK). My girls could bend down and pick the strawberries on themselves- worth the drive just for that! They also have an on-site restaurant that sells food and drinks, with lots of open space for kids to run and play
2) Abma’s Farm, Wyckoff, NJ
The absolute best petting zoo. Walk the round, paved path - totally stroller friendly- while your kids feed the goats, sheep, bunnies and more. Cute farm shop with great fresh produce and prepared food.
3) Secor Farm, Mahwah, NJ
The very best apple cider donuts, cutest hay ride and corn maze, and a big pumpkin patch in fall. Don’t let October pass you by without visiting.
4) Dr Davies Farm, Congers, NY
Just over the border in NY, Dr Davies is a beautiful, spacious orchard with beautiful views. Enjoy the hay ride out to the orchards + and grab a drink at the Red Barn Cidery afterwards
5) Demarest Farms, Hillsdale, NJ
My hometown farm, so I’m partial to it, Demarest is a Bergen County institution. The farm market is top notch and the hay ride out to the orchards is always a hit. We especially love peach picking in the summer here - it’s less crowded than apple picking and my kids love peaches. Also, don’t skip the climbing play train and slides. Be aware, it’s not super stroller friendly so you may want to bring a baby carrier
